PROJECT 1
LOW ENERGY BUILDING ANALYSIS
For our first project, students are required to learn the role of energy efficiency in low-energy buildings in architectural design through analysis and evaluation of a selected low-energy building. The building me and my groupmate, Ruth chose to analyze was the Olympic House located in Lausanne, Switzerland. We are required to identify the specific energy efficient strategies and their implementation in the building as environment conservation effort presented in an infographic video.
Final Infographic Video Presentation on The Olympic House :
PROJECT 2
ENERGY AUDIT E-REPORT
For our second project, it emphasizes the role of a walkthrough audit as a process used to establish a general practice of the potential energy savings through visual presentation. HVAC, lighting, building maintenance, and other factors affecting energy consumption of the building of our own home. Students are required to identify the principles of energy efficient systems and evaluate the energy consumption and the implementation of its strategies to reduce energy usage in design to deliver low architectural design.
Final Outcome :
REFLECTION
discipline specific knowledge -
At the end of this module, I have been introduced and gained experience on using digital applications such as Revit and Velux to assist me on gaining daylighting research for my home. Other than that, I also learned about the practice of energy auditing and also study different methods to decrease energy usage in buildings.
lifelong learning -
Throughout this project, I have become more conscious of my energy usage as I learned how high energy wastage can impact the environment. This module has encouraged me to change my daily routine to be more sustainable and avoid wasting energy as best as I can.
communication skills -
Through this module, I was able to improve my communication skills, especially having a partner for our first assignment where we were required to constantly communicate with each other to complete our infographic video together. Towards our second individual assignment, we also helped each other when we were faced with problems.
